The N9 platform, consisting of a white N9 robotic arm mounted on a white metal deck. In front of the arm is a rack of vials with different colors of liquid. A pipette tip on the end of the robot arm is dispensing light red liquid into vial as it performs serial dilution.

North Robotics automates common and repetative tasks including sample preparation, serial dilution, pH testing and heating and mixing.

Controlled with Python scripts through the NorthIDE editor and simulator, the N9 platform is well-suited for closed-loop discovery applications.

In this video, color matching is done using an implementation of Bayesian optimization from SciKit-Learn.


Candidate samples are prepared by the N9 robot using a ratio of red, green, and blue dye from North Robotics' Syringe Pumps and Dispensing Carousel. A camera characterizes each sample to determine the optimal ratio for the following sample.
